Chevrolet Goes Emoji WIth Press Release

Vice President and Group Leader

Smiley face. Heart. Car. Emoji. Know what the means? You’ll find out soon.

It’s not everyday that a new car launches with a press release written entirely in Emojis, but this morning Chevy did just that. It’s a cool, buzzworthy and ambitious move and we’re proud to be a part of it.

To accompany the release of a new model, Chevrolet did something that no automaker has ever done: it issued an all-emoji press release challenging readers to translate from Emoji to english.

Emojis may be the language that millennials speak on social media, but this is very much a cross-platform effort. We worked with Chevy to spread the word within CBS sports, weather, entertainment, traffic and music reports.

So what does the Emoji message mean? Nobody seems to know for sure, but the folks at The Verge have one entertaining translation:

Happy person loves car

City car music, stop. Dash city, city, city, city, 11 o’clock in the evening, happy and sad, a new car chicks love….

Don’t buy that one? The good news is that comedian Norm Macdonald will be on hand to decode the message. Stay tuned!
